something good from a tough friendly
By: otto | January 18th, 2009
Training camp for Borussia is nearing conclusion and Hans Meyer has been diligent in piecing together the club. The focus of camp and friendlies have been to evaluate and test how new players work together with specific concern of eliminating defensive flaws. Facing Shakhtar Donetsk of the Ukraine yesterday, Borussia lost 3-0 and while it doesn’t reflect it in the score the match showed some distinct promise. Naturally a loss is never a “positive” and not to take anything from a strong club but there was a lot of good signs including the general play of Marko Marin, Rob Friend and Oliver Neuville in the attack.
The club flies home this morning and we’ll have a better chance to gauge progress then.
Borussia Mönchengladbach – lineup versus Shakhtar Donetsk
Logan Bailly (78. Christofer Heimeroth) – Tobias Levels, Roel Brouwers, Jan-Ingwer Callsen-Bracker, Paul Stalteri (66. Christian Dorda) – Michael Bradley (46. Gal Alberman), Tomáš Galásek (72. Sebastian Schachten), Patrick Paauwe (46. Alexander Baumjohann) – Karim Matmour (66. Johannes van den Bergh), Rob Friend (46. Roberto Colautti), Marko Marin (46. Oliver Neuville).

Thank you for understanding. I was not sure how to say it but an odd match.
The boys looked incredible into defending tonight and fit into the older lineup.
