Nullnummer @ KSC

Borussia continued its fight to safety with a tough scoreless draw against Karlsruher SC at Wildparkstadion. With both sides fighting for safety the match was expected to be full of aggression and did not disappoint. The result continues Hans Meyer’s brilliant tactical plan and pulls Borussia within striking distance of Arminia Bielefeld, Bochum and Hannover.

Hans Meyer had the luxury of using Dante in his starting eleven for the first time and the ex-Standard de Liège man was rock-solid in central defense with Roel Brouwers. This allowed Belgian international Filip Daems to move to left back with Paul Stalteri at the right. Knowing full well that the match was a “must-win” for KSC, Borussia was cautious going forward and first hammered a well turned defensive role in the first forty-five minutes. At the re-start Borussia appeared more adventurous going forward with both Alexander Baumjohann and Filip Daems posing problems for KSC. By the hour mark, frustration grew for Edmund Becker as he saw his side having a problem breaking through Borussia’s tactical plan. In rapid fire succession Stefano Celozzi, Lars Stindl and Mahir Sağlık were ushered to find the goal that could salvage their year. KSC was throwing everything forward, came close with Sağlık’s attempting with just over ten minutes left but with the firm intent of resisting every charge the Borussia wall of defense was impenetrable and the match ended a 0-0 draw.
