Fohlen Offside
By: otto | December 9th, 2008
Welcome to The Offside home for Borussia Mönchengladbach. It will be my honour to tell you of this great institution in German Football. For many, Borussia will be second nature to you, part of your “die Heimat” and still to others relatively new to you. It is my pleasure to tell you this great club and hopefully turn you into proud supporter. It has been a tough start to the year but we are strong, proud and brave. While we are at the bottom of the table, we have one direction to go and I can assure you Borussia will never surrender.

Otto, good to have you around man. Although I’m a Palermo-fan first, I have always had a soft spot for Gladbach. Seen over 150 games since ‘95, both am Bökelberg and Borussia Park. I’ve been to Chemnitz in 2.BL, saw the 6-2 trashing of Mainz at home, remember the epic battles with Dortmund in the mid-nineties…

Thank you everyone. I appreciate your welcoming words
Steven, that is great to hear. I was not sure how many would know of ‘Gladbach. We are coming back ! So you are in Belgium – we are close then, good to know. Do you still get to matches?

I try to go at least twice a year, but I haven’t been around as much as I used to since they left Bökelberg. Borussia Park just doesn’t do it for me.

I was going to ask you just that.
Visiting the Bokelberg was one of the great football experiences in Europe, and it would be very difficult to re-create its atmosphere.
It’s impossible for anyone of my vintage who remembers Weisweiller’s teams very well not to have a bit of a soft spot for Gladbach.
And they brought back the classic kit this season. If only they could get back Erdgas as a sponsor (not to mention Vogts, Bonhof, Netzer, Simonsen, Heynckes, Stielke, etc.).

Ursus, i’m starting to like you more and more. I was at the 100th anniversary game against Twente in 2000, and it was just amazing to be around all those heroes from the past. I think I still have every shirt from ‘94 until 2004. The thing about Bökelberg was that you first had to park 5 miles out of the city, then walk trough the rain to arrive in an old stadium that was located in the middle of a living area. God, I miss those days.

I agree with you both but unfortunately those days have been replaced because of financial needs. As far as vintage kits, in my family we have some great ones that you’d love to see.
Steven, hopefully we can get you to a match in the future.
