Christian Ziege leaves Gladbach
By: otto | December 16th, 2008Assistant coach Christian Ziege announced his resignation from Borussia citing personal reasons. The thirty-six year-old, who played most of his career with Bayern München, joined Fohlen after his playing career ended.
He said via the club web-site:
“I didn’t intend to announce my decision until the end of the week, when the first half of the season is fully over for us. But because of the reports in the media I considered it necessary to do so today. My reasons are of a completely personal and private nature. Everything else is just wild speculation that has nothing to do with the truth and from which I distance myself. I would like to wish the players and the club all the best. I’m sure we’ll see a different Borussia after the winter break and we’ll achieve our objective of staying in this division.”
Director of sport Max Eberl respected his decisions but certainly led us to believe that this the door is open for him to return:
“Although it’s not what we would have wanted, we accept Christian’s wish and hope he’ll return to Borussia one day.”

Shame, but it’s awesome to see Max Eberl still being in a great function at Gladbach. Always loved his style and grinta.

By the way, thanks for the match-invite. If you’re going to see a match, just let me know and I’ll see if I can squeeze out of my busy schedule : )

Steven – I get to most matches and even travel with my friends to away matches. I might also go to the Anderlecht – Cercle Brugge in January if that interests you.

Hehe, I’ve sworn never to set foot in a Belgian stadium again, unless it was work related. Sorry man, I’ll pass for that.
